Who is Gershom?

Gershom's Bio

Gershom's age cannot be measured. As far as he and anybody else knows, he has always been and always will be. A former angel that has been cast out of Heaven centuries ago and has taken up residence in a small rural town in Georgia. The town was created in the 1800s, one of the last towns to be founded after the East side of the US was colonized. Gershom has occupied the Catholic Church of St. Michaels for as long as anyone can remember.

Gershom has no friends or family nor has he ever made it a point to make any. He doesn't have a home, he has no need to eat, sleep, drink, let alone breathe. He only does so to sell the illusion of him being human. Gershom resides primarily within the rectory on property but rarely ever stays there when others are present. His prescence in the church makes him somewhat unwelcome by both employees and members of the church alike. His offputting demeanor and unwillingness to communicate in anything other than vague replies makes him a target of gossip or conspriacy.

His general appearance is that of a middle aged man. Gershom claims to be 48 years old, although he has been saying that for the past 20 years. His hair is dark and greying, his skin is pale and cold, and he wears a traditional cassock with deep red accents. Gershom's eyes and face are constantly obscured by shadows. His face has never been observed fully, no one knows what he truly looks like nor do they want to get close enough to find out.

Gershom can be characterized as offputting but kind! He typically has the best intentions when meeting people but his demeanor and general appearance make people distrusting of him upon first meeting. He is still an angel afterall, his purpose is to protect others and aid in any way he can.

Small Story Points...

Gershom has a brother! Malphas, a demon that represents the sin of wrath. He functions as a debt collector, going after those that have escaped their fate and taking them where they rightfully belong. Gershom and Malphas are not on good terms, never have been. The two have never been on speaking terms to begin with.

Gershom had a small fling with a demon named Amadeus. They had a small romantic relationship up until Gershom's inability to fully commit to his feelings. They ended on bad terms.
